Exhausted

I can’t believe I slept for sixteen hours! I did not hear any of the alarms I had set on my phone last night. I knew I was tired, and I feared I might go into a deep deep sleep without waking up on time. Thus I had set three alarms: one at 7:40 A.M., the second at 8:20 A.M. and the last one at 9:00 A.M. As soon as I hit the sac, I did not hear anything. I slept like a log.

Because I overslept I missed the complimentary breakfast offered downstairs in the lobby of the hotel. So much for having a free meal! Luckily my two colleagues thought of me and got me a coffee and something to eat. They knocked for five minutes on my door, until I woke up. One of them mentioned that he was starting to get worried, thinking that I was not feeling well, or that I might have collapsed on the floor. She was happy to see that I was fine and nothing had happened to me.

I guessed she had been told by one of my colleagues the story when I passed out in the room, years back. She probably imagined that it happened again. Some people tend to believe that if you have a condition, you are more prone to die than anyone else they know. They get so worked up, because the fear you would die on their watch. It’s insane!

Once I had my breakfast and I was ready to go downstairs, I remembered I had to call my wife and ask what did the private lendersay about our loan request. I was curious to see if we got approved or not. My hopes were not too high. After being refused couple of times, I found it hard to believe that we could get the loan and fix the roof.

I picked up the phone and dialled her number. Then I realized I was trying to reach her using the hotel’s phone instead of my cell. I put down the phone and grabbed my cell. I called her twice, she did not answer. I sent her a text message asking her to call me back.

While I was getting back into the car, I got a call from my daughter. She was planning to come visit us for two days the following week-end and she wanted to know if we had any plans.
