Hooked on the social networking
Lately I realized that I am spending a lot of my time online, mostly on social networking platforms. My wife is the one who brought this issue to my attention. She mentioned that I ended up having a stronger online presence than our teenage daughters together. I could not say anything but “guilty, as charged!”
It is true. Ever since I discovered my former high school classmates online and I have been added to our class group, we have been communicating every day. I discovered that we are scattered throughout the entire world. Some of my colleagues moved to US, others live in Asia or in Europe. Only a few of us remained within Canada.
As for the career paths we have chosen, they go from waiter to civil engineering. We cover pretty much most of the positions needed to run a city. One of us had been elected mayor, if you can believe that. While we were chatting and rediscovering ourselves, we all remembered one of our teachers who used to say that all of us, “the rascals” would be like if we got a job in a factory doing tubular lead acid batteries Toronto.
I doubt that Mrs. Croones is still alive. Otherwise some of us would not mind paying her a visit and telling her that her predictions were far from being accurate. Among all my colleagues, I guess I am the only one who has a humble simple job. Maybe the lowest pay as well.
Anyway, to get back to the beginning of this post - I have promised my wife I would cut down on the time I spend online and I would try to help her a bit more with the house chores.
I finish my work schedule around 3 P.M. which gives me enough time to prepare dinner for her and the girls. It took me only fifteen minutes to get home from my workplace. For her, the drive is much longer. Plus she has to pass by the school and she pick up our two daughters. I did not understand why she opposed on having them taking the bus like any other child, but I let it be. It was not a big issue for me. I did not want to give her another reason to pick on me.
I guess that since she’s the one who brings the money, she’s having the right to be the boss, no questions asked.
